Emeritus Professor Michael McLure conducts research in the field of history economics. He was awarded the Premio Galileo Galilei in October 2020 by the Fondazione Premio Internazionale Galileo Galilei for his significant contributions to the history of Italian economic thought. In November 2021, he received the Austin Holmes Award from the WA Branch Economic Society of Australia, acknowledging his contributions to the field of economics in Western Australia. Michael retired from his position as Professor of Economics on 31 December 2023 and his title of Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia (UWA) was conferred with the effectiveness of his Emeritus title. His research interests focus on the history of economic sociological ideas, particularly the works of Vilfredo Pareto from the Lausanne economic tradition and Arthur Cecil Pigou from the Cambridge economic tradition. His academic endeavors included visits to the Centre Walras-Pareto at the University of Lausanne and the Department of Economics at Bocconi University, as well as archives at the University of Cambridge. Michael is proficient in Italian and has an elementary understanding of French.
