Michael J. Neely received B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1997. He was awarded a 3-year Department of Defense NDSEG Fellowship for graduate study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he received his M.S. degree in 1999 and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2003. He joined the faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Southern California in 2004, where he is currently an Associate Professor. His research interests cover stochastic network optimization, queueing theory, and applications to wireless and mobile ad-hoc networks. He has contributed to the analysis and design of energy-efficient wireless networks and general queueing systems, focusing on scheduling networks with random events. Michael has been recognized with several awards, including the NSF Career Award in 2008 and the Viterbi School of Engineering Junior Faculty Research Award in 2009. He is a member of Tau Beta Pi and Phi Beta Kappa.
