Biography

Michael Noll is a Professor Emeritus at the USC Annenberg School for Communication. He was the dean from 1992 to 1994 and is regarded as an early pioneer in digital computer art, 3D animation, and tactile communication. Noll earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering (now known as New Jersey Institute of Technology), a Master's in Electrical Engineering from New York University, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. He joined the Annenberg School in 1984 and became emeritus in 2006. His extensive career includes work in basic research, telecommunications, marketing, and science policy. Noll worked for AT&T in the consumer products marketing department where he performed technical evaluations and identified new product opportunities. He also served as the director of technology research and was a senior affiliated research fellow at Columbia University's Business School. Noll has published several works, including 'Bell Labs Memoirs: Voices of Innovation' and 'Evolution Media'. He has received numerous honors including the Eta Kappa Nu Outstanding Young Electrical Engineer award and the Distinguished Alumni Medal from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
