Michael Ostwald is a Scientia Professor of Architectural Analytics at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia. With a distinguished academic career, he has held various leadership positions including Associate Dean Research and Head of the School of Built Environment. Ostwald is globally recognized, being consistently ranked in the top 10 in world architecture according to Stanford rankings. His research focuses on computational methods to analyze and optimize architectural and urban space, exploring the intricate relationships between design, human behavior, and cognition. He has authored over 400 scholarly publications, including 34 books, contributing significantly to the fields of architectural history, critical theory, and design computing. Notable works include 'Fractal Dimension Architecture' and 'Computational Design: Technology, Cognition Environments.' Ostwald has been awarded numerous competitive research grants totaling over $18 million and has received multiple national and international accolades for his contributions to architectural research and education.
