Dr. Michael Palmer

Biography

Michael Palmer is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. He earned his Master's degree in Applied Experimental Psychology in 2014 and completed his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology in 2017 from Central Michigan University. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) since 2015, Palmer has extensive hands-on experience as a behavior interventionist, lead therapist, and clinical supervisor at the Central Autism Treatment Center. His academic focus includes improving the quality of life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, while critically examining long-standing beliefs in behavioral sciences. Palmer emphasizes collaboration, growth, and practical application in his teaching philosophy, striving to make learning engaging and inclusive. As Director of the Certificate in Applied Behaviour Analysis (C-ABA) Program, he mentors students preparing for careers in behavior analysis. He is actively involved in advancing the field of behavior analysis in the Atlantic Provinces, having previously served as President of the Atlantic Provinces Association for Behaviour Analysis (APABA). Palmer's scholarly work includes various publications addressing behavioral management and innovative practices in hiring and training within the field.
