Biography

Dr. Michael Parsons is an Associate Professor in Emergency Medicine, cross-appointed to Family Medicine, at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He completed his MD at Memorial University in 2004 and a residency in Family Medicine in 2006. He holds special competence in Emergency Medicine and has been involved in emergency medicine education and practice since 2007. Currently, Dr. Parsons serves as the Assistant Program Director for the CCFP(EM) program and is a full-time ER physician at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital Health Sciences Centre in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. He is known for his work in simulation-based medical education and Point of Care Ultrasound training. Dr. Parsons is also a Master Instructor for the PoCUS program and has been actively teaching interdisciplinary skills to residents and medical students. His research interests include mobile tele-simulation, remote mentoring, and educational methodologies within emergency medicine. Dr. Parsons's contributions have been recognized through various awards, including the Emerging Investigator Award at the 2016 RCPSC Simulation Summit.
