Biography

Michael Pearce is a Professor Emeritus at the Ivey Business School, where he has been a part of the faculty since 1974. He completed his doctorate at Harvard Business School. He is recognized for his expertise in strategic marketing planning, global marketing leadership, consumer marketing, and retail marketing. Throughout his career, he has consulted with over 100 businesses, governments, and organizations across Canada, the United States, Europe, Japan, and other regions. He has developed and taught various courses, including a notable Retail Marketing Management course and an eLeadership program. Pearce has authored 197 case studies and 60 industry and technical notes, in addition to 16 books and articles on a wide range of topics. He has received multiple awards for his teaching excellence, including the prestigious Ivey Eminent Teaching Professor designation in 2006 and the Ontario Confederation University Faculty Associations (OCUFA) Teaching Award in 2008. He has served in important roles at Ivey, including Associate Dean of Programs and Faculty Director of the Maple Leaf Foods Leadership Academy.
