Biography

Michael Pfeffer, MD, FACP serves as Chief Information Officer and Associate Dean at Stanford Health Care and Stanford University School of Medicine. He oversees Technology Digital Solutions (TDS), providing technology solutions that support the mission to improve human health through research and care. Michael is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine and Division of Hospital Medicine and continues to provide clinical care as a Hospitalist Physician. Previously, he was the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer at UCLA Health Sciences, where he led the implementation of one of the largest electronic health record systems. Under his leadership, UCLA Health received numerous awards, including HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 certifications. He implemented an ACGME-accredited Clinical Informatics Fellowship and has lectured worldwide on health information technology. Michael has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and has been recognized in the Becker’s Hospital Review among top physician CIOs.
