Biography

Michael G. Pratt is a Professor at Queen's Law, cross-appointed in Philosophy. He joined the Queen’s University faculty in 2003 after teaching at the University of Queensland and the University of Alberta. Professor Pratt holds a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto and Osgoode, respectively, as well as a Master of Laws and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Sydney. His academic responsibilities have included serving as the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research. He has published extensively in the fields of contract law, law of remedies, and the philosophical foundations of contracts and voluntary obligations. His notable publications include a treatise on the law governing the termination and rescission of agreements for the purchase and sale of land in Canada and articles examining various aspects of contract law. He is currently working on a book addressing the legal treatment of exclusion clauses in contracts.
