Dr. Michael Recht

Biography

Michael Recht, MD, PhD, MBA, is a professor of clinical pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in pediatric hematology and oncology. He is dedicated to treating children, adolescents, and young adults affected by bleeding and clotting disorders. Dr. Recht is also the Chief Medical Scientific Officer for the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation, where he helps shape the organization's scientific direction and research strategy. He has an extensive background in medical education and training, having received his MD and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He completed his residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology at Yale New Haven Hospital. Throughout his career, Dr. Recht has been actively involved in over 110 clinical trials testing new treatments for inherited blood disorders, with a significant focus on gene therapy for hemophilia. He has held leadership positions, including founding director of the Hemophilia Center at Phoenix Children's Hospital and director of the Hemophilia Center at Oregon Health & Science University. His commitment to advancing the understanding and treatment of bleeding disorders is evident in his active participation in clinical research and collaborations.
