Dr. Michael Reiter

Biography

Michael Reiter is the James B. Duke Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and Electrical & Computer Engineering at Duke University. He has held prestigious positions including Director of Secure Systems Research at Bell Labs and Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, where he was also the founding Technical Director of CyLab. Additionally, he served as a Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His work primarily focuses on cybersecurity and machine learning, particularly on the challenges and methodologies surrounding data-use auditing for ML models. He has authored numerous publications on topics such as threshold cryptography and the application of randomness in distributed systems. Reiter earned his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1993 and continues to contribute to the field through both his teaching and research initiatives.
