Biography

Michael Romalis is a professor of physics at Princeton University. He received his B.S. in physics from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and completed his Ph.D. in physics at Princeton University in 1997. His research interests focus on atomic physics applications that address fundamental questions about the workings of the Universe, with practical applications in various scientific areas. Currently, his research includes atomic magnetometers, nuclear spin co-magnetometers, and Rydberg microwave electric field detectors. In addition to practical applications, his quantum sensors are utilized in the search for violations of Lorentz invariance and to explore new spin-dependent forces, which may lead to signals of coherent dark matter.
