Biography

Michael Rosen is a Professor in the Department of Government at Harvard University. He has extensively worked on a wide variety of topics within philosophy and social theory, particularly focusing on the history of ideas. His research interests lie mainly in 19th and 20th century European philosophy and contemporary Anglo-American political philosophy. Rosen began his academic journey studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at the University of Oxford from 1970 to 1974. He then studied under Charles Taylor, completing his doctorate at Oxford in 1980. Throughout his career, he has taught at several prestigious institutions including Harvard, Oxford, and University College London where he served as a Fellow Tutor in Philosophy at Lincoln College, Oxford, from 1990. He joined Harvard University in 2006 and continues to influence the field through his research and teaching.
