Biography

Michael J. Rosen is a pediatric gastroenterologist and physician scientist with over 25 years of experience in advancing research and care for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He currently holds the position of Stanford University Endowed Professor of Pediatric IBD and Celiac Disease and serves as the Director of the Stanford Medicine Children's Health Center for IBD and Celiac Disease, where he has driven nationally leading clinical outcomes. Dr. Rosen's expertise spans mucosal immunology, epithelial biology, and clinical translational investigation. His NIH-funded laboratory has revealed the protective role of type 2 cytokines in chronic intestinal inflammation, utilizing advanced intestinal organoids to study IBD. He has also conducted significant clinical research, including the multicenter ARCH Study, which highlighted the necessity of intensified anti-TNF drug dosing for pediatric patients with acute severe ulcerative colitis. As a co-principal investigator for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation’s Cohort Pediatric Translational Clinical Research IBD (CAPTURE IBD), Dr. Rosen is committed to advancing precision medicine for children with IBD. After graduating from Duke University, he earned his MD from Harvard Medical School, completing his pediatric residency at Boston Children's Hospital and Boston Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he also obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation.
