Biography

Michael joined King’s College London in 2007 as a DAAD Lecturer in Law after having studied law at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He obtained his LLM from King’s College London and completed his PhD at Humboldt University Berlin. He has served as a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of California, Los Angeles. His research and teaching focus primarily on financial law from a regulatory and transactional perspective, as well as corporate law, corporate insolvency law, and European contract law. Schillig’s research interests encompass transnational, European, and comparative private commercial law, with particular emphasis placed on contract and corporate insolvency law. He is currently working on a book titled ‘Comparative Company Law – Text, Cases Materials’, co-authored with Carsten Gerner-Beuerle, to be published by Oxford University Press.
