Dr. Michael Schweinberger

Biography

Michael Schweinberger is a Professor of Statistics at Pennsylvania State University, holding a Ph.D. from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. He has previously served as faculty at Rice University and has held visiting positions at the University of Washington and the University of Missouri, Columbia. Schweinberger has completed postdoctoral work at both Pennsylvania State University and the University of Washington. His research primarily focuses on the mathematical foundations of data science, with a particular emphasis on the analysis of dependent data structures, including network data related to social and economic interactions. His work often involves developing regression methodologies, causal inference frameworks, and novel stochastic models, contributing significantly to the understanding of interconnected systems in contemporary applications across social sciences. His research has been supported by funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research. He also serves on the editorial boards of numerous statistical journals and has been involved in various academic advisory roles.
