Michael S. H. Shih is a Professor at the Odette School of Business, University of Windsor, with a focus on Accounting. He earned his Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 1989. His research interests include CEO responsibility, Disclosure versus recognition, Earnings management, and Executive compensation. His work has been published in reputable journals, contributing to the understanding of investor behavior, discretionary accruals, and market reactions to earnings surprises. Noteworthy publications include analyses of investor skepticism regarding small positive sales surprises, the effectiveness of matching models in measuring discretionary accruals, and the implications of market perceptions of earnings surprises. Throughout his academic career, Dr. Shih has developed a significant body of work that has implications for both accounting practices and financial reporting standards.
