Biography

Michael ‘Six’ Silberman is a postdoctoral researcher on the iManage Project at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, where he contributes research focused on regulating algorithmic management. Prior to this role, Silberman worked as a software engineer and a trade union official, and he is a co-founder of Lilly Irani's Turkopticon, a client reputation system used by workers on Amazon’s Mechanical Turk crowdsourcing platform. He has also contributed research addressing environmental issues related to information technology, including working conditions and rights of workers on digital labor platforms, as well as ecological economics. Silberman obtained his PhD in Information and Computer Sciences from the University of California at Irvine.
