Biography

Michael Sinclair is a Lecturer in Urban Analytics at the Urban Studies and Social Policy Division of the University of Glasgow. He convenes the MSc Urban Analytics and leads major research projects that explore the use of mobile phone app data to examine the value of natural and cultural spaces on a large scale. His research interests lie at the intersection of the growing availability of novel data sources, with a focus on addressing social and environmental challenges for societal benefit. He is particularly interested in the potential, challenges, and ethics of user-generated data, and the methods used to analyze this data to understand human-nature interactions at scale. Michael has a background in Human Geography and Environmental Science, and his projects have received funding from prestigious organizations such as the Economic and Social Research Council and the UK Government's Department for Culture, Media and Sport. He is also an Early Career Board Member for the Journal of Ecosystem Health and Sustainability.
