Michael J. E. Sternberg is the Director of the Centre for Integrative Systems Biology Bioinformatics (CISBIO) and holds the Chair in Structural Bioinformatics at Imperial College London. His research group focuses on various aspects of prediction in biological sciences, particularly in predicting protein structure and function, macromolecular docking interactions, and the impact of genetic variants associated with diseases. With a background steeped in bioinformatics, he emphasizes an interdisciplinary approach that combines experimentation with modeling. Professor Sternberg has also been actively engaged in outreach programs supported by the Royal Society and Rolls Royce, aiming to inspire the next generation of scientists. He completed his D.Phil in Biophysics at Oxford and obtained his degree in Physics from Cambridge, along with a Master's in Computing from Imperial College. He has been a part of Imperial College since 2001 after working at Oxford, Birkbeck College, and Cancer Research UK. His group's webpage offers resources and programs for the scientific community.
