Biography

Michael Storper is a Centennial Professor of Economic Geography at the London School of Economics, having joined the department in October 2000. With affiliations at the Centre de Sociologie des Organisations in Sciences-Po Paris and the Department of Urban Planning in the School of Public Affairs at UCLA, he is recognized as a leading academic in the field. His contributions to economic geography and regional development were honored with the Sir Peter Hall Prize from the Regional Studies Association. Throughout his career, he has been awarded the Founder's Medal by the Royal Geographical Society for his scholarship in human economic geography and has also received Distinguished Scholarship Honors from the American Association of Geographers. His research interests primarily focus on globalization, local and regional economic development processes, and the impacts of technological change on economic geography, particularly in relation to urban economies.
