Biography

Michael Svarer is a professor at Aarhus University in the Department of Economics and Business Economics. He holds an M.Sc. degree from 1997 and a PhD from 2001, both from Aarhus University. His primary research interests include Labour Economics, Public Economics, and Family Economics. Svarer has published extensively in internationally recognized journals such as the Economic Journal, Labor Economics, the Journal of Economic Perspectives, and the Journal of Public Economics. In addition, he has served as the editor for the Nationaløkonomisk Tidsskrift and is actively involved in policy advice in Denmark. He has held significant roles including chairman of the Danish Economic Council's expert group on green tax reform and a member of the Labour Market Commission and Covid-19 related expert groups. Currently, he is a senior fellow at Kraka and chairs the board of the Aarhus University Research Foundation.
