Biography

Michael Tanzer is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in adult hip and knee arthroplasty. He obtained his medical degree and completed his residency training at McGill University. He furthered his training with an Adult Reconstruction Hip fellowship at Harvard University under Dr. William Harris at Massachusetts General Hospital. He returned to the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) in Montreal, Canada, where he serves as the Associate Surgeon-in-Chief of Surgery and holds the position of Professor and Vice Chair in Surgery at McGill University. He also holds the Jo Miller Chair in Orthopaedic Research. His research encompasses both clinical and basic science engineering investigations related to hip and knee joint reconstruction. He has published 164 papers and book chapters and holds 11 patents. His contributions to the field have been recognized with six Hip Society Awards and two American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Awards for Excellence, as well as two Founders Medals. He is a member of the prestigious Hip Society and the International Hip Society.
