Biography

Michael Tomz is the William Bennett Munro Professor of Political Science and a Senior Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. Tomz also serves as a Senior Fellow at the Stanford Center for Global Poverty and Development, and is an undergraduate education fellow. His research interests lie in international relations, American politics, comparative politics, and statistical methods. Additionally, he has been recognized with several teaching accolades including the Dean's Award for Distinguished Teaching and the Walter J. Gores Award for Excellence in Teaching at Stanford. Tomz holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University, a master's degree from the University of Oxford as a Marshall Scholar, and a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University.
