Biography

Michael Ullyot is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Calgary, specializing in early modern literature and digital humanities. He received his BA (Hons.) in English Literature from McGill University in 1998, followed by an MPhil in Medieval & Renaissance Literature from the University of Cambridge in 1999, and a PhD in English Literature from the University of Toronto in 2005. His research primarily focuses on Shakespeare and new media, exploring topics such as rhetoric and exemplarity in late Elizabethan and Jacobean culture. He published a monograph, 'Rhetoric Exemplarity Early Modern England' with Oxford University Press in 2022. He has authored 16 scholarly articles and book chapters and presented 47 conference papers. Throughout his career, he has received significant funding for his research and has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in early modern English literature, supervising multiple graduate and honours students. In addition, Dr. Ullyot has served on the Editorial Board of the University of Calgary Press and held an administrative role as Associate Dean of Teaching and Learning in the Faculty of Arts from 2013 to 2015.
