Biography

Michael J. Vitti, MD, is a board-certified vascular surgeon with expertise in lower-extremity bypass surgery, limb salvage, and the repair of aortic aneurysms. He specializes in minimally invasive treatments for lower-extremity vein disease, varicose veins, and stasis ulcers. Dr. Vitti has performed over 5000 procedures with excellent clinical success and has served as the Director of the Eastern Vascular Vein Center. He completed his undergraduate studies at Fordham University, graduating Summa Cum Laude and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed his General Surgery Residency at St. Luke's - Roosevelt Hospital in 1992. Afterward, he finished a Vascular Surgery Fellowship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, gaining specialized training in Vascular Ultrasound. He has contributed significantly to academic literature, authoring textbook chapters and peer-reviewed articles focused on the noninvasive ultrasound diagnosis of arterial and venous disorders. His research interests include the impact of endovenous procedures on the natural history of lower extremity venous disease. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Columbia University, engaging in the education of surgical residents and practicing at Lawrence Hospital.
