Biography

Dr. Michail Risvas joined Southampton Law School in 2021, specializing in public international law, World Trade Organization law, and international arbitration. Prior to joining the Law School, Dr. Risvas was an Assistant Professor of International Law at IE Law School in Madrid from 2018 to 2021 and practiced at an international law firm in Paris from 2014 to 2018. His experience includes acting as counsel in investment and commercial arbitration cases under ICSID, UNCITRAL, LCIA, and ICC rules across sectors such as banking, defense, gaming, and mining metallurgy. Dr. Risvas has also been included in the lists of arbitrators for disputes under EU trade agreements and has been associated with various arbitration organizations such as OHADA, CAfA, and NAI. He has taught at multiple universities across Europe and Latin America and has published work in the fields of international economic law and law of the sea cultural heritage law. Dr. Risvas holds a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Athens and Master's degrees in international law from the University of Oxford.
