Michel de Jong obtained his PhD degree from Eindhoven University of Technology in 2000. He held positions as a postdoctoral fellow and Assistant Professor at Linköping University from 2000 to 2007 before joining the University of Twente's NanoElectronics Group in September 2007. He has a multidisciplinary background in surface science, organic electronics, and spintronics. In 2008, he was awarded the NWO VIDI grant in the domain of Technical Sciences and later received the ERC Starting Independent Researcher Grant from the European Research Council in 2011. To date, he has published 60 publications in various scientific journals, contributing significantly to research in areas like organic semiconductor spintronics, hybrid inorganic/organic materials, and electron spectroscopic techniques. Michel is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Twente, where he teaches courses in Electrical Engineering and Advanced Technology, including Electromagnetic Field Theory and NanoElectronics.
