Biography

Michel Lord is a Professor Emeritus in French Studies at the University of Toronto at Mississauga. He obtained his Ph.D. in Québécois studies from Laval University and has had a distinguished career in the field of language studies. Lord served as the Associate Editor for the University of Toronto Quarterly, overseeing the French edition component, particularly the publication of the yearly Lettres canadiennes. Prof. Lord retired in 2016 after a prolific career that included numerous refereed articles and books published in Canada and Europe. His notable works include 'En quête du roman gothique québécois (1837-1860): Tradition littéraire et imaginaire romanesque', 'La logique de l'impossible: Aspects du discours fantastique québécois', and 'La nouvelle québécoise au XXe siècle: De la tradition à l'innovation', co-authored with André Carpentier. His primary research interests focus on 19th-century Québec literature and Gothic Fantastic narratives, as well as short story narratology.
