Biography

Michel Melanson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at Queen's University, where he has been a faculty member since 1998. He also holds a cross-appointment in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Melanson serves as the Neurology Residency Training Director and has held this position since 2001. He is currently the Director of the EMG laboratories at Kingston General Hospital and evaluates patients with neuromuscular disorders, working alongside two colleagues. Additionally, he is the co-director of the Adult Neuromuscular Clinic at St. Mary’s Lake Hospital. His research focuses on neuromuscular diseases, and he collaborates with basic science researchers at Queen’s Center Neurosciences. Dr. Melanson studies the clinical aspects of disorders such as ALS, Multiple Sclerosis, and Muscular Dystrophies. He is also the lead investigator in clinical trials related to ALS and Inflammatory Neuropathies and is a member of both national and international registries for neuromuscular diseases.
