Biography

Michela Borzaga is an Assistant Professor in Comparative Literature at Utrecht University. She studied English and Italian literature at various institutions including the Universities of Salzburg, Belfast, and Stellenbosch. She holds a PhD in Anglophone literature from the University of Vienna, where her dissertation was awarded the Dr. Maria Schaumayer Prize in 2018. Borzaga has held positions as a postdoctoral assistant, lecturer in English literature and culture, and Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Stellenbosch and the University of Cape Town. Her research interests encompass critical theory, South African literature, memory and trauma studies, poetics, (post)colonial thinking, and gender and motherhood studies. She is currently preparing a book titled 'Trauma Move', which proposes new approaches and critical lenses to read South African trauma novels by examining aspects such as lived time, spatiality, and the role of things and commodities. Additionally, she has co-edited several volumes, including 'Imagination Troubled Space: Poetry Reader' and 'Trauma, Memory, Narrative South Africa: Interviews' and 'Essays'.
