Michela Massimi joined the University of Edinburgh's Philosophy department in July 2012. Before this, she spent seven years at University College London in the Department of Science and Technology Studies. She completed her PhD at the London School of Economics in 2002 and was a Junior Research Fellow at Girton College, University of Cambridge from 2002 to 2005. A recipient of the Royal Society's Wilkins-Bernal-Medawar Medal Lecture in 2017, her interdisciplinary research focuses on the philosophy of science. In 2018, she was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and in 2019 a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, as well as a member of Academia Europaea. Michela served as Co-Editor Chief of "The British Journal for the Philosophy of Science" from 2011 to 2016 and as Vice President of the European Philosophy of Science Association from 2015 to 2019. She is currently the President-Elect of the Philosophy of Science Association for the 2023-24 term. She has authored and edited multiple books including "Perspectival Realism" (2022) and various co-edited volumes addressing key philosophical themes regarding science and knowledge.
