Dr. Michele George

Biography

Michele George is a Professor Emeritus specializing in Greek and Roman Studies. He has a strong focus on Roman material culture and social history, particularly the intersection of these fields. His research encompasses Roman domestic architecture in Italy, provinces, and Pompeii, as well as studies on Roman slavery through archaeological evidence. He has collaborated with physical anthropologists at McMaster University, such as Megan Brickley and Tracey Prowse, to further his research endeavors. His areas of expertise include archaeology, pre-literate societies, and classical studies, with a strong emphasis on the history and archaeology of these subjects. Professor George has contributed significantly to the understanding of ancient cultures through his publications and teaching activities.
