Michele Spencer-Manzon, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics and Pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine. She is a board-certified clinical geneticist specializing in treating individuals from infancy to adulthood who have inherited cardiovascular diseases and genetic disorders. Dr. Spencer-Manzon's focus includes the study and treatment of newborns with 'inborn errors of metabolism', a group of conditions that severely affect how the body processes food at the cellular level. She participates in the Pediatric Genomics Discovery Program, working alongside a team of specialists to identify potential genetic causes of rare diseases in infants. A notable part of her career has involved successfully diagnosing conditions such as citrullinemia in newborns, demonstrating the impact of swift genetic intervention. Dr. Spencer-Manzon has received various honors, including the Southeast Regional Genetics Group Student Travel Award, and is committed to improving healthcare quality and efficiency in pediatric genetics.
