Dr. Micheline Soley

Biography

Micheline Soley is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She completed her PhD at Harvard University in 2020 and was a Yale Quantum Institute Postdoctoral Fellow. Soley's research focuses on quantum computing algorithms, exact quantum dynamics, and quantum control. Her work addresses the theoretical problems in chemistry, particularly the curse of dimensionality in simulating chemical systems using traditional quantum mechanical methods. This research has implications for understanding molecular processes, including those involved in biological systems. She is particularly interested in developing new algorithms capable of quantum advantage and applying these methods to achieve precision in quantum control. Soley's group also works on theoretical simulations related to UV/X-ray pump-probe spectroscopy, aiming to visualize chemical reactions through advanced molecular simulations.
