Dr. Michelle Aebersold

Biography

Dr. Michelle L. Aebersold, a Clinical Professor and Vice Chair for Research at the University of Michigan School of Nursing, is a leader in healthcare simulation and interprofessional education. With a doctorate from the University of Michigan, she specializes in the use of extended realities to enhance nursing education. As a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator and a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, Dr. Aebersold's research focuses on innovative teaching strategies that leverage simulation and virtual environments to improve patient and caregiver education. She has developed unique learning models, such as the Simulation Model to Improve Learner Health Outcomes (SMILHO), and currently investigates virtual reality applications for safety and quality in clinical settings. A prolific contributor to the field, she has been recognized with various honors, including the SSH Presidential Citation and Fellow status in the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. Dr. Aebersold is also actively involved in associations that promote simulation education and has secured multiple research grants aimed at enhancing healthcare training through technology.
