Biography

Michelle Bloor is an ecotoxicologist specializing in chemicals and waste pollution. She holds undergraduate degrees in BEd (Hons) Science Environment from the University of Oxford and BSc (Hons) Environmental Science from Manchester Metropolitan University, along with a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Southampton. Over the past 25 years, she has served as a government scientist and academic, contributing to assessments, policy developments, and research projects aimed at addressing the sound management of chemicals and waste pollution. Michelle has held positions at various institutions, including the University of Southampton, Fisheries Research Service, Scottish Government, and the University of Portsmouth. Currently, she is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Science Risk at the University of Glasgow, where she also serves as Research Director of Scotland’s National Centre for Resilience. Michelle is actively involved in multiple advisory roles, including being a member of the United Nations Environmental Programme’s Roster of Experts and a member of several key forums related to chemical sustainability. Furthermore, she is Editor-in-Chief of the Sustainable Environment journal and participates in various European research initiatives aimed at addressing sustainability challenges.
