Biography

Dr. Michelle Ann Bulterys is an epidemiologist specializing in maternal, paternal, and child health for families affected by HIV in sub-Saharan Africa. She received her MPH and PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Washington, where she also completed her postdoctoral training in Global Epidemiology. Her research primarily focuses on Kenya, Botswana, and Uganda, investigating caregiver relationships, mental health, father engagement interventions, and child neurodevelopment. Michelle is an active member of several committees, including the UNAIDS/WHO Pediatric Reference Working Group and the Scientific Committee of the International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials (IMPAACT) Network. She also serves as a Research Methodology Advisor for the NIH Fogarty Global Health Program Fellows Scholars (LAUNCH) Program. Michelle's diverse upbringing included attending elementary and middle school in Zambia, high school in China, and living and working in Switzerland and the United States.
