Biography

Michelle Chui, PharmD, PhD, is an Affiliate Professor and Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy. Her research focuses on applying human factors approaches from a systems perspective to characterize community pharmacy practices. She examines how community pharmacists understand process impacts on medication safety and quality of care. Additionally, she develops and tests interventions that allow pharmacists to provide effective and efficient medication management. Dr. Chui has received funding for numerous projects aimed at evaluating the communication processes during shifts in pharmacy practice. She has been involved in studies comparing pharmacist-patient communication in community pharmacy settings and innovative models for measuring pharmacy workload. Dr. Chui earned her BA in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Davis, her PharmD from Creighton University, and her MS and PhD in Pharmacy Administration from Purdue University. She practiced pharmacy in community settings prior to joining the UW-Madison School of Pharmacy faculty in 2008 and has experience teaching courses focused on safety and quality in medication use within the healthcare system.
