Biography

Michelle Cotterchio is a Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto and a Senior Scientist at Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario). Her research focuses on cancer epidemiology, particularly the etiology and prevention of breast, colorectal, and pancreatic cancer. She has extensive experience in designing and conducting epidemiologic studies, including large population-based case-control studies and familial cancer studies. Cotterchio has received numerous research grants from the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, including for a major international colorectal cancer project. She has published over 160 papers in scientific literature, contributing significantly to understanding modifiable risk factors associated with cancer. Cotterchio has also played key roles on various committees and working groups, including the National Cancer Institute's Cooperative Family Registries for Colon Cancer Steering Committee. Her teaching responsibilities include supervision of PhD and MPH students in Epidemiology, and she has co-instructed and led seminars and courses at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
