Biography

Michelle Dionne is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University. She holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from York University, and her research primarily focuses on body image and eating psychology, particularly among young women. Her work examines personality variables and individual differences that help protect against or predict problems related to body image. Additionally, she supervises master's and doctoral students in Clinical Psychology and Psychological Science. Dr. Dionne teaches various courses, including those on body image and sport psychology, and is currently the undergraduate thesis coordinator in her department. Her leadership roles extend to serving as the Graduate Program Director. Throughout her career, Dr. Dionne has been actively involved in university governance, participating in the Senate and the Board of Governors, as well as being a member of the Ryerson Faculty Association. Her selected publications include research on eating disorder prevention initiatives for athletes and the development of the Family Fat Talk Questionnaire, which evaluates fat talk behaviors within a family context.
