Professor Michelle Murti is a Public Health and Preventive Medicine physician and currently serves as the Associate Chief Medical Officer of Health with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Ministry of Health, Ontario. Her expertise encompasses communicable disease control, surveillance, and emergency preparedness response. She has provided extensive scientific technical advice for public health case management and outbreak management guidance, particularly during the Ontario COVID response, and has contributed to policy advice on public health measures. Prof. Murti is a member of the Canadian Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Task Group and the High Consequence Infectious Disease Working Group of the National Advisory Committee on Immunization. She also instructs in the Emergency Preparedness Master of Public Health program at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. Her research interests include influenza, emerging respiratory viruses, syndemics-based approaches, and communicable disease surveillance. Prof. Murti completed fellowships as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and as an Emerging Leader in Biosecurity at Johns Hopkins University Centre for Health Security. She has significant public health experience from her work with Public Health Ontario and Fraser Health Authority in British Columbia, and she has also practiced clinically in Ontario and New Zealand.
