Dr. Michelle White

Biography

Michelle Joette White is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Duke University and serves as the Associate Director of the Duke Pediatric Research Scholars Program. She has expertise in pediatric healthcare and population health sciences, emphasizing research that aims to reduce health inequities among children, particularly within Black communities. Dr. White completed her M.D. at Duke University and her M.P.H. at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her clinical training includes a Pediatric Residency at the University of Washington and a fellowship in NRSA Primary Care Research. Her research includes projects funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Lucile Packard Foundation, focusing on improving healthcare access and outcomes for children with medical complexities. She has held various academic positions, including Assistant Professor in the Departments of Population Health Sciences and Pediatrics. In addition to her teaching and research, Dr. White contributes to professional development as an editorial board member for Hospital Pediatrics and serves on the Diversity Inclusion Committee of the Academic Pediatric Association.
