Biography

Michiel Anton Bakker is an Assistant Professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management and is affiliated with MIT's Institute for Data, Systems, and Society as well as the MIT Center for Constructive Communication, based at the MIT Media Lab. His research interests are centered on artificial intelligence safety, computational social science, and the societal impacts of artificial intelligence, emphasizing AI alignment and human-computer interaction. Prior to his role at MIT, Michiel served as a senior research scientist at Google DeepMind. He holds both a Master's and a PhD in computer science from MIT, as well as Bachelor's and Master's degrees in physics from Delft University of Technology.
