Biography

Dr. Smid received his Master’s degree from Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands and his Ph.D. from the University of Amsterdam. He worked as a research associate at the Max-Planck-Institute for Computer Science in Saarbrücken, Germany, from 1990 to 1996. Before joining Carleton’s faculty, Dr. Smid was a professor at the Theoretical Computer Science Institute of Simulation and Graphics at the University of Magdeburg, Germany. He joined the School of Computer Science at Carleton University as an Associate Professor in 2001 and became a full professor in 2004.
