Dr. Mick Scow

Biography

Mick Scow is an Assistant Teaching Professor in Indigenous Studies at the University of Victoria. He is a Ph.D. candidate specializing in Indigenous Governance. His research emphasizes the importance of revitalizing Indigenous fatherhood and fostering family-based resurgence. Mick is a member of the Kwakwaka'wakw and Snuneymuxw nations, roles that serve as a foundation for his scholarly work, which engages with cultural heritage as well as the rights and responsibilities of Indigenous families. He currently resides in the unceded and illegally occupied WSANEC territories with his partner and children. His academic credentials include a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Calgary and a Master’s degree from the University of Victoria, further underscoring his commitment to Indigenous studies and educational advancement.
