Biography

Mick Sherburn is a Full Professor at the Research School of Chemistry, Australian National University. He has had a distinguished academic career, starting as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at The University of Sydney from 1997 to 2002, and previously a Lecturer at Massey University in New Zealand from 1994 to 1997. He began his research career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Australian National University from 1991 to 1994, where he worked with Professor Lew Mander. He holds a PhD from the University of Nottingham, UK, obtained in 1991. Sherburn has received several prestigious awards, including the 2008 J. Birch Medal from the Organic Division of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and the 2006 Le Fèvre Memorial Prize from the Australian Academy of Science. He serves on various editorial and advisory boards, including as an Editor for Nature Scientific Reports and is involved in overseeing research activities in the area of organic and synthetic chemistry.
