Dr. Mie Engen

Biography

Mie Engen is a professor at Aalborg University, focusing on social work and social pedagogy, particularly addressing vulnerable groups such as children and families, as well as individuals with intellectual disabilities. Her research delves into fundamental phenomena in care, power, and the professional understandings needed to create better opportunities for participation among people in vulnerable life situations. In her teaching at the Master's program in Social Work, she concentrates on themes related to vulnerable children and youth, sociological theory, research design, and qualitative analysis, while also serving as a dedicated supervisor for Master's and PhD students. Engen has contributed significantly to the academic community, engaging in both research projects and public discussions on topics such as child protection and social inclusion.
