Biography

Miguel F. Anjos holds the Chair in Operational Research at the School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh, U.K. He previously held faculty positions at Polytechnique Montreal, University of Waterloo, and University of Southampton. His accolades include the Inria International Chair, Canada Research Chair, NSERC-Hydro-Quebec-Schneider Electric Industrial Research Chair, and the Humboldt Research Fellowship. He is a Fellow of EUROPT and the Canadian Academy of Engineering. Professor Anjos conducts research in mathematical optimization with applications in various industries. He has published four books and over 100 scientific journal articles, leading research collaborations with companies such as EDF, Hydro-Quebec, National Grid ESO, Rio Tinto, and Schneider Electric. He was the Founding Academic Director of the Trottier Institute for Energy at Polytechnique Montreal. Additionally, he has served as Editor-in-Chief of Optimization Engineering, and currently holds the position of Area Editor for the Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications (RAIRO-OR), and is an Associate Editor for several other journals. Professor Anjos also serves as Chair of the Mathematical Optimization Society and is the INFORMS Vice-President for International Activities, while being a member of the Managing Boards of the EURO Working Groups on Continuous Optimization and Stochastic Optimization. He has previously served as the President of the INFORMS Section on Energy, Natural Resources, and Environment, and on the Council of the Mathematical Optimization Society, as well as being the Program Director for the SIAM Activity Group on Optimization and the Vice-Chair for the INFORMS Optimization Society.
