Biography

Miguel Centeno is the Musgrave Professor of Sociology and Executive Vice-Dean at the School of Public and International Affairs (SPIA) at Princeton University. He has published extensively, including notable works such as 'War Society' (Polity 2016), 'Global Capitalism' (Polity 2010), and 'States Developing World' (Cambridge 2017). His scholarship also includes the 'State Nation Making Iberian World' series, with volumes released in 2013 and 2018. Currently, he is completing a new book project focused on the sociology discipline. In 2013, he founded the Research Community on Global Systemic Risk, supported by PIIRS, and has served in leadership roles, including Head of College and Founding Director of PIIRS, as well as Chair of the Sociology Department. Additionally, he established the Princeton University Policy Project (PUPP) in 2001, and the Princeton Sociology Project (PSP) in 2019-20. His work critically addresses the globalization of risks and systemic challenges organizations face today.
